4 held as Police seize large quantity of contraband substances in Budgam | KNO

Srinagar, Jun 16 (KNO): In continuation of its sustained efforts to combat drug trafficking, Police in Budgam on Monday said to have seized a significant quantity of contraband substances and apprehended four drug peddlers during the operation. Acting on specific and credible information, Police Station Chadoora received a specific information regarding one individual, namely Mohammad Ashraf Parray son of Ghulam Ahmad Parray resident of Bugam, Chadoora, had allegedly concealed a large quantity of poppy straw-like substances in his cowshed, a police spokesman said in a statement issued to the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO). “Upon receipt of this information, a police team from PS Chadoora along with concerned Executive Magistrate 1st Class, Nagam, raided the said location. During the search, 76.540 kilograms of semi-ground poppy straw and 4.290 kilograms of grinded poppy straw in powder form (commonly known as Fukki) were recovered,” police said. Four individuals involved in the commission of the crime were arrested on the spot. They have been identified as Muzaffar Ahmad Dar son of Jalal Uddin Dar, Mohammad Ismail Dar son of Ghulam Hassan Dar, Sajad Ahmad Guroo son of Abdul Aziz Guroo, all residents of Ghat Tokna, Awantipora and Mohammad Altaf Parray son of Ghulam Ahmad Parray resident of Bugam, Chadoora. Accordingly, police said that a case under FIR number 108/2025 under relevant sections of law has been registered at Police Station Chadoora and investigation has been initiated. J&K Police reiterated their firm resolve to root out the drug menace from society and urge the public to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities related to narcotics.
